Welcome to my blog! My name is Gretchen. I am originally from Kansas City but now reside in the great state of Texas. I have been blogging for a couple of years now, just for fun. I actually love to write, but only when the passion hits me so my posts are not very frequent. And even then, they aren't always great! I also blog to keep family & friends "in the know" about our lives. I am married to this beautiful man in the picture with me. We have been married 14 years and we have 4 wonderful kids and a beautiful granddaughter. We met online in 1999 on Match.com. Cool, huh? When we met he already had 3 boys - ages 5, 9, 11. He had custody of the 2 older boys when we got married and about a year later we had all 3.
This is our oldest son...he's 26, married, and has a daughter of his own. Yay for grandchildren!!
This is our middle son who just turned 25. He's a very hard worker and keeps himself busy working.
This is our youngest son who is 20 and recently moved back to TX from New Jersey! We are so happy he came home!
And this is our sweet little addition that was added to our beautiful family in 2001. She is 13 years old and such an amazing blessing.
On our daughter's 10th birthday in August 2011, with her approval (because it was her day), my husband and I renewed our wedding vows. We were married in 2000 but since it was a 2nd marriage for both of us, we opted out of a traditional wedding. We have regretted it ever since. So for our renewal we decided to do it right, with an actual wedding ceremony. It was so much fun and I'm so glad we did it.
I am a devout (totally and completely committed) follower of Christ who was saved by His grace. That's so cliche' so let me explain what I mean. God created man. Man sinned. God cannot look upon sin because He is perfect, so he sent His only Son (Jesus Christ) to die on a cross to pay for man's sin. If I accept this gift from my loving Father, I will spend eternity in heaven with Him. But sin continues to run rampant because Satan is the "ruler" of our world (Ephesians 2:2, John 12:31, 2 Corinthians 4:4, 1 John 5:19). Every day we have to fight a spiritual battle between God and this enemy, who are both fighting hard for our devotion. God equips us to walk in His Spirit (the Holy Spirit) which is how we fight the battle against Satan. We cannot do it in our own flesh. We will fail when we try. So when we understand this battle we are more equipped to fight and let Jesus be the Lord of our lives (Ephesians 6:10-20). Lord is defined as "someone or something having power, authority, or influence." To give someone power or authority or influence in our life is to let them basically have their way. I give Jesus that authority and power every day because I don't even want to think about living this life without Him. I can do nothing without Him and will spend the rest of my years glorifying Him with my life (Acts 20:24).
Email me if you have any questions, but know this:
God really does love you, no matter what anyone has ever told you or what you're feeling. That's just how sneaky Satan is...he'll tell you something that you think came from your own head. Try something different...just try believing God and see what happens.
It's good stuff, friend.
